One reason it might not work is if the printer requires a special non-printing character such as escape to preceed it or if it requires one to terminate it protramming you would be unable to include the rxamples as part of the text string in the template. Another reason is if the printer requires it to be prior to any data. From what I see in the manual, for example for the b -ati command input trayit is intended to provide the template for the specific command and not a method to progrwmming some example unique command. The string that you supply would need to include the command termination character if required zpl the input tray command followed by the command string you want to add a the command termination character if required. Note: some printers don't require a command termination character for all commands because they are a fixed length. Some printers use the escape character as a command start identifier. None of these characters can be used directly as a part of the string the print agent sends directly to the printer. You would use whatever the printer requires.
